Thanks so much for coming to Oxford in the midst of our February white, Emiko! We all enjoyed your spirit and generosity. Your presentations were wonderful, and you connected beautifully with the students.

It was great becoming acquainted--I look forward to our paths crossing once again. Many thanks to Lena for pulling the excellent exhibition together, and to Cynthia for organizing the supporting events. Bravo!

emiko--
Nice blog! thanks for your compliments to the art museum. Great to meet you and your parents. Glad you all enjoyed your visit here, too. The jewelry show is getting a lot of attention and it's wonderful to have it here--wish we could package it and travel it!

Emiko,
You did a great job with all your posts!
Really like the perky style and brevity.

I have one post a day coming out for the next week to finish every lecture of the conference..

Wait till you hear what I had to say about Lydia Mathews and Men in White.
Maybe you should shut me down now.

This has struck a cord for sure. I almost choked on my pasta salad. True some individuals are choosing to not "take notice" about what's going on with craftivism.
But I should say that many of the issues are comparing apples to oranges. Also many individuals are making sweeping generalizations about things they are not highly familiar with. On both sides. "established and DIY"
But to say that the MS comment was directly connected to the ACC or SNAG is a stretch at best. After all the ACC conference was where the initial MS mention came up. That has to say something about their willingness to see both sides of this story.
As for the "easy up/gallery tour remark: That's just as inflammatory. I'd like to point you to our craft history to witness the fact that "making it" wasn't easy then and it isn't easy now. If it was easy then everyone would be doing it. Oh wait everyone is doing it. Slippery this slope is.
