Also, NEW LEGO Greeting Cards! So much fun to style and photograph, this is definitely going to be an annual, recurring product. Inspired by our Accessorize with Toys workshops and all those board game boards, I’ve made Upcycled Ornaments and Table Tops Trees, all which will be at the gallery this weekend. Not to mention the Hugging Dinosaurs ornament series (hard to resist the Golden Dinos, or anything spray painted gold, for that matter). Speaking of ornaments, come by the gallery on Sat, Dec 4, from 1-4pm for our Ornament Making Party. Make your own ornaments from recycled game/toy parts and I’ll spray paint it gold to give it extra pizzazz. $20 gets you all the ornaments you can glue gun together, plus treats and mulled wine. It’s addictive, and you’re guaranteed to go home with successful projects, perhaps even gifts.  The SF Chronicle listed our Ornament Making Party as one of the Eight Great DIY Holiday Gift Workshops!

For those in the SF area, grab today’s SF Chronicle and turn to the Home and Garden section to see the interview by Nancy Davis Ko about my work and the upcoming American Craft Council show at Fort Mason this weekend! My first time selling at this national craft show, very exciting! The SFGate article is already online and there are so many  photos of my work and me in the studio, it’s fantastic!

Only a few more days to prep all the new work I’ll be bringing to the show, some of which were creatively captured by SF Chronicle photographer, Lea Suzuki. Come by this weekend and see more of what is hot off the bench. I’ll be in the Fort Mason FESTIVAL PAVILION up in the Mezzanine in the ALT CRAFT section.
WHEN: Friday, Aug 13, 10am-8pm, Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 10am-5pm.
ENTRY FEE: $12 admission for one day, $18 for 2-day pass. Come Friday after 5pm and only pay $5 (think wine bar and hands-on crafting with Etsy).

emiko interviewed for SF Chronicle

It’s been a busy press month for me thanks to the fine PR efforts in conjunction with the Palo Alto Art Center’s STYLE 2010 upcoming trunk show, this coming Saturday, April 24! In this Sunday’s SF Chronicle’s Style section, I was interviewed by the lovely Jeanne Cooper about my emiko-o reware jewelry from LEGO (see the pink outlined section in the article above). My Pink Martini bracelet looks fabulous in print, and even better online in the SFgate.com article, where my Mondrian bracelet is also featured (see image below). Also, for all my facebook Fans and friends, you already know about the use of my large LEGO necklaces in the current issues of both Gentry Magazine and Scene Magazine (San Jose Mercury News Spring edition). It’s non-stop but it’s the only way I operate I suppose…

So much press has come out in the last week or two for all my current local shows, it’s hard to keep up! Today local cable show, “Inside City Limits“  did an onsite interview with me as well as with Christine for Jewelry_cycle. Even after doing the artist talk at the museum on Sunday, I still managed to miss mentioning stuff during the interview. Hard to think ahead of myself while concentrating on looking natural and standing up super straight. Our 20 min interviews will get cut down to 7 min each anyway. Looks like it may air the first week of December, comcast cable channel 11 and 104 (not sure what that translates into non-comcast-wise).

In newspaper land, I was shocked to hear, then see that Lionize was chosen for the SF Chronicle’s Sunday Datebook, Art section. Check them apples out! If anyone local is reading this, I would love to have your copy of this Datebook page when you’re ready to recycle….

Man, that collar is sure living up to its name, even in it’s second generation. Another winning bathroom “studio” photo! Who needs fancy lights when you’ve got glossy Pantone paper and diffused natural light!

The SF Examiner came out with an opening week article (Oct 13) by Sasha Vasilyuk, for the SFMCD shows, and the print version here used the Queen Margherita necklace, the first of the Royal Jewels series (though not present at this exhibition). Click here to read the online version.

In Blogland, many many great posts: Capitolagirl.com interviewed me about the Royal Jewels show and my process and posted to her blog as well as to PoshMama.com, where I was the Friday Spotlight.

Fellow jeweler and blogger, Amy Tavern had a great post Friday as well, titled, “I left my jewelry in San Francisco”, which included the SFMCD shows among her Bay Area artscapades.

Jewelry_cycle was a hit with the bloggers too: the lovely Cindy Edelstein of Jewelry Business Guru kindly posted us. It’s great that the media has all managed to use different images  to depict this show.

Then American Craft got in on the act for their Calendar of Events, highlighting Reed Easley’s fan:
